Understanding the -profile option

Questions and postings pertaining to the usage of ImageMagick regardless of the interface. This includes the command-line utilities, as well as the C and C++ APIs. Usage questions are like "How do I use ImageMagick to create drop shadows?".

Understanding the -profile option

I'm not sure if I understand the -profile option. Is there a default profile if one isn't specified? Does -profile change the pixels of your image or does it just add some information to the image header?
