Prolems with verification after installation on OS X 10.4.8

Prolems with verification after installation on OS X 10.4.8

I installed ImageMagic in the default location. I tried to run the verification

/usr/local/bin/convert logo: logo.gif

I navigated to direcotry "bin". When I tried to run "convert logo: logo.gif"
I got the message "command unknown".

How should I proceed?
