How to make it gray?

1/ start with something simple to get it to work.

2/ You are trying to save with the same image name as you are calling which will not work for me.

3/ Try putting {$userfile[$i]}

4/ Your link does not work.

convert image_in.jpg -colorspace Gray image_out.jpg works for me
