Your command produces a 27K PNG image using ImageMagick 6.2.6 and this command:
convert page-5.jpg -resize 170 -quality 99 -colors 256 -strip page-5.png For ImageMagick 5.5.7 you can use
+profile "*" instead of
-strip .
