what happened to edge ?

I observe different behaviour of the edge operator with version 6.6.9-7 and 6.7.7-10 :

I apply convert raw.jpg -edge 1 edge.jpg to this image


with version 6.6.9-7 i get:


with version 6.7.7-10 i get:


obviously the newer version interpretes every little fluctuation as an edge making the result worthless

v6.9.0-0 gives pretty much the same as your older version.

6.7.7-10 is the current version in ubuntu ... what will be different if i install 6.8... ?
