I've run on the same issue.
OS: MAC OS X 10.9.2
ImageMagick: 6.8.9-0
I've builded and installed ImageMagick from sources.
When i run './configure' it outputs
PANGO --with-pango=yes yes
'convert -list configure'
Path: /usr/local/lib/ImageMagick-6.8.9//config-Q16/configure.xml
Name Value ...
