I had a similar problem and solved it by downloading and compiling each lib (libpng, libjpeg), then referencing them via export CPPFLAGS and LDFLAGS.

I'm trying the same thing (using Magick++ with CodeBlocks) with no success.
Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware of, the libs in the package you install from the binaries are compiled for Visual Studio only.
Going a little further, I read you can use ImageMagick source code and compile your code ...
